Rosie hired on as a Harvey Girl in the 1950s when Franz Rotter was managing the El Tovar. When Franz started the Grand Canyon Plaza Hotel, he hired Rosie. We conducted this interview in 2012, just before Rosie passed away.

Algar, Bruce
Raised in Los Angeles, his father James worked for Walt Disney. As a senior in high school in 1958, Bruce joined his father on a Disney filming trip in Grand Canyon with cameraman Ernst Heiniger. That film won an Oscar but the river trip was a trip from hell.

Anderson, Dr. Michael
A native of Chicago, Ill, Dr. Anderson learned Latin in the almost three years he spent in seminary school. After joining the United States Airforce in 1967, Dr. Anderson served four years was assigned to The Presidio at Monterey, CA. The drive from Chicago to California, his first trip west of the Continental Divide, was amazing. After four years in the Air Force and now married to his high school sweetheart Linda, Dr. Anderson worked the next 12 years with computers. By then, his sisters and parents had moved to Arizona...
